Federico Gutierrez, a former mayor from Medellin was born in Medellin in 1974. His political career began in 2003, when he was elected an Medellin councilor. He is currently the Municipal Youth Councilor and Municipal Planning Councilor. Gutierrez is a registered Civil Engineer at the University of Medellin. In addition, Gutierrez holds a Specialization in Senior Management and Political Science degrees from the Pontifical Bolivarian University.

Federico Gutierrez did not just be concerned with politics in his professional life. In fact, he was a Consultant with the HGI Consultores company and a Resident Engineering at the Company Vifasa S.A. Fico Gutierrez and construction company. In private, he defends and says that his family is his most significant asset. He’s married to one woman and has two children.

His career as a city councilman saw him support Sergio Fajardo’s mayoralty and later , Alonso Salazar’s. Fico Gutierrez reached the Mayor’s Office of Medellin, moving his focus to 2015. But, like all of the Hidroituango mayors, he faced corruption. Additionally, in an investigation by Daniel Coronell, he was accused in the Panama papers for storing his money in tax havens and also for corruption.

In fact, he fought with the ex-mayors who he had supported. He said recently, “I have been standing in solidarity with those who are in the report, since I don’t believe anyone makes such decisions in order to make sure that the diversion tunnel is not averted. One is in solidarity and some sectors do get targeted by political tactics.”

A new contest for the presidency

The so-called Experience coalition, which later evolved into the Team for Colombia, was formed in October 2021. Federico Gutierrez of the Center-right coalition won Federico’s candidacy. The moment is now, Paola Holguin from the Democratic Center is supporting Federico. Fico Gutierrez was also running for an office in the 2022 election.
