The Kerem Tunnel is a great location to go on a hike or ride.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s first bicycle tunnel, was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. נווה פריצקי This 42-kilometer cycle route is located around Jerusalem.
It connects Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. The southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban while the northern entrance is located in Nahal Ein Kerem, about one kilometer away close to the Kerem junction.
The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was officially inaugurated by Jerusalem’s Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin. The ceremony was also attended by Mayor Moshelion Avi Balehnikov, Gihon Water Company chairman, and thousands of cyclists.

Elkin’s Ministerial, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 to the project. The project was executed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

It will connect with the various bicycle paths that are already within the city. The paths will be paved within the diverse neighborhoods. The aim is to promote cycling among the residents of the city.
The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s to relocate its main sewer line towards the Sorek purification plant.

The current works include road construction, the installation of blowers and advanced security and electrical systems in order to ensure that the tunnel is secure for the public to pass through at all times of the year.
There is also the Kerem Tunnel to enjoy unique recreation spots, including Ein Kerem, the Biblical aquarium, zoo and Ein Kerem neighborhood.
