The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique ride and hiking experience that is to be loved by everyone.
As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.
The tunnel links the paths between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. It is located in southern Israel within Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.
Inauguration of the tunnel which measures 2.1 kilometers long took place in Jerusalem and the Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman of the company) along with hundreds of cyclists.
Jerusalem’s rich past was the main reason why it was an extremely popular tourist destination in the past. נווה פריצקי Elkin explained that the Kerem Tunnel project is an important tool in realizing the goal to change the way of thinking and transport in Jerusalem. “The new tunnel, which will connect to the lengthy Jerusalem Ring Path, will join the existing bicycle routes in the city as well as those that will be paved in its various neighborhoods, with the aim of encouraging cycling among the city’s residents as well as its visitors, and also in promoting the green revolution in transportation in the capital city.”
The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the late 90s to relocate the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. נווה פריצקי It is currently used as an infrastructure tunnel which also includes the fifth line of water to Jerusalem via the Mekorot water corporation.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for access to unique recreational areas, such as Ein Kerem, a neighborhood which includes a Biblical zoo and aquarium and also the ancient natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
