As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.
It connects Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban while the northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a kilometer close to the Kerem junction.

Elkin stressed the fact that “The Kerem Tunnel Project is the central instrument to achieve the goal to redefine the idea of transport throughout Jerusalem.” נווה פריצקי Elkin said that the new tunnel will connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path and will connect with existing bike paths. It will also be paved in its various neighborhoods. The tunnel will be a great way to increase cycling and encourage green transportation in the capital.
The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to move the main sewer line toward Sorek’s purification plant.

Road construction installation, blowers, modern security systems and electrical wiring are all part and parcel of the ongoing work. The tunnel will be safe for the public to use throughout the entire year.
The Kerem Tunnel provides access to special recreation areas, such as Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the Biblical aquarium and zoo as well the historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban, and Ein Haniyeh.
