In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

Elkin declared that, in the present, apart from its rich history, Jerusalem is also a destination for modern-day tourists. “The launch (of the tunnel) is another aspect of the expansion of Jerusalem, and its transformation into a desirable city to visit for all kinds of people throughout Israel and around the world.”
Elkin, whose ministry and the Jerusalem Municipality led the project, said that his ministry “invests hundreds to millions of shekels per year to develop all aspects of Jerusalem’s tourism and the development and operation of innovative attractions, ventures and attractions that connect the glorious history of Jerusalem’s eternal city to the future”. To make the tunnel accessible to the public year-round the work includes road construction as well as the installation of blowers.
Kerem Tunnel Kerem Tunnel provides access to exclusive recreation spots, including Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the Biblical aquarium and zoo as well the historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban, and Ein Haniyeh.
