    The Kerem Tunnel allows for a the most unique riding and hiking experience.

    The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest bicycle tunnel, has been opened as part the 42-kilometer cycle route which circles the capital.

    It links Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. It has a southern entrance within Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the closest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.

    The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was inaugurated by Jerusalem’s Heritage Minister ZeevElkin. It was also attended by Mayor Moshelion Avi Balehnikov Gihon Water Company chairman, and hundreds of cyclists.

    Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction because of its rich history. Elkin said that apart from its rich history and modern amenities, tourism has also been incorporated into the Jerusalem city. “The opening of this tunnel project is a different aspect of the growth of Jerusalem. The tunnel transforms the city into an attractive tourist place for any kind of crowd throughout Israel as well as around the world.”

    Elkin who, along with the Jerusalem Municipality spearheaded the project, said his ministry “invests hundreds of millions of shekels every year in the development of all aspects of Jerusalem’s tourism and the development of exciting tourist attractions and ventures that link the glorious historical past of our eternal capital to the future of Jerusalem… I encourage cyclists to visit and enjoy the modern and well-maintained cycle route that takes in the unique nature of Old Jerusalem.”

    Elkin’s ministry and the Tourism Ministry budgeted the project.

    Elkin stated that the Kerem Tunnel project was a important tool to realize the goal of altering the way of transport throughout Jerusalem. “The tunnel, which is being constructed to connect to Jerusalem Ring Path will join existing bicycle paths and those that will paved in its areas. נווה פריצקי The goal is to encourage cycling among the residents of Jerusalem and encourage the green transport revolution in the capital.”
