The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest cycle tunnel, was inaugurated as part of a 42-kilometer cycle route that is a loop around the capital.
The tunnel links Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. It has a southern entrance in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the closest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.
The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was officially opened on Thursday, by Jerusalem and heritage minister Ze’evElkin and Mayor Moshe Lion. Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon the chairman of Gihon and a plethora of other cyclists also attended.

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s to relocate its main sewer line towards the Sorek purification plant.
