    The Kerem Tunnel offers an unforgettable riding and hiking experience to the advantage of

    In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem’s capital, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

    The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is located in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban and its northern entrance is located in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a kilometer from the Kerem junction.

    The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was officially opened by Jerusalem’s Heritage Minister ZeevElkin. The ceremony was also attended by Mayor Moshelion, Avi Balehnikov, Gihon Water Company chairman, and thousands of cyclists.

    The city’s rich history was a reason why it was an extremely popular tourist destination during the time of its glory. Elkin said that the present tourism industry is one of Jerusalem’s treasures from the past and incorporates modern day tourism. “The inauguration of tunnel is another aspect of the expansion of the city of Jerusalem as well as its development into an attractive tourist destination for all kinds of visitors throughout Israel and around the world.”
