The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique riding experience and hiking experience that should be enjoyed by all.

The Kerem Tunnel, Israel’s newest cycle tunnel, was constructed as a part of the 42-kilometer cycle route which is a loop around the capital.

נווה פריצקי The tunnel links Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The southern entrance is within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entry, Nahal Ein Kerem, is about half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was opened on Thursday by Jerusalem and heritage minister Ze’ev Elkin and Moshe Lion, the Mayor. Moshe Lion. נווה פריצקי Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon the chairman of Gihon as well as a multitude of cyclists were also present.

Elkin’s Ministry Elkin’s Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project. The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the project.

Elkin stressed the fact that “The Kerem Tunnel Project is a central tool to realize the dream to change the way we think about transport in Jerusalem.” נווה פריצקי “The new tunnel that connects to the Jerusalem Ring Path will join existing bicycle paths and those that will paved in its areas. The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the 1990s to move the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant located in Sorek It is situated to the west of the city. It is currently used as an infrastructure tunnel that also houses the fifth water line to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water company.

The works currently underway include road construction, installation of blowers and advanced safety and electrical systems to ensure the tunnel is safe for the public to pass through throughout the year.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for access to exclusive recreation areas such as Ein Kerem, a neighborhood which includes a Biblical aquarium and zoo and also the historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
