    The Kerem Tunnel offers a unique riding and hiking experience for the enjoyment of

    As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

    The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. The tunnel’s southern entrance is located in Refaim Park below Ein Laban. The northern entrance can be found in Nahal Ein Kerem about half one kilometer away from the Kerem junction.

    The tunnel’s official opening ceremony which measures 2.1 kilometers long was held in Jerusalem and the Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) and hundreds more cyclists.

    Jerusalem was once popular tourist destination because of its rich history. Elkin explained that the modern tourism industry is an integral part of Jerusalem’s historic treasures and is also a part of modern-day tourism. “The inauguration (of this tunnel project) is an additional part of the development of Jerusalem and the transformation of Jerusalem into a popular tourist destination for all kinds of visitors in Israel as well as across the globe.”

    Elkin his ministry, which together with the Jerusalem Municipality spearheaded the project, explained that the ministry “invests hundreds of millions of shekels every year to develop the tourism industry in Jerusalem and in the creation of exciting tourist attractions and ventures that link the fascinating history of our capital city’s eternal past to its future… I would like to invite cyclists to join us and take a ride along the modern and well-maintained cycle route that takes in the unique landscape of Old Jerusalem.”
